CHI RGB has existed,
in one form or another, for over two decades
(chionghee, BZGR, Nughi, Neatbik)
then spent a decade in silence,
taking in different frequencies.
Now it returns
as an old impulse
in a new, condensed form.
Electronic structures, organic motion,
sound and movement as integration:
core states felt fully, moved through and brought into relation.
RGB began as a way of organising music. It identifies three interacting forces
that overlap, transform,
and move through one another:
- red activates and intensifies,
- green opens and connects,
- blue slows and deepens.
Together,
they act as an invitation
to become absorbed
without becoming absent.
STORY
DJing came from:
– being fascinated by music from a young age, I remember taking control of the player at my very first school party in 1st grade, popped in a cassette and jumped around in a trance until I was completely drenched in sweat.
RGB came from:
– about twenty years and thousands of hours spent organising and mixing music
– not wanting to stick to any genre
– realizing it’s more about the vibes than anything else
– recognising red, green and blue as the three basic vibe building blocks that I can overlay and mix, same as RGB LEDs mix colour on a screen
10 years of “silence” / not playing came from:
– getting tired of the numbing party lifestyle, feeling too disco nnected, and not wanting to contribute to it anymore
The return came through:
– getting into daytime parties through events like Daybreaker, ecstatic dances, and a bit of contact improv
– realizing it’s nicer to let loose without checking out
Now, hopefully, this I could contribute to.
